Is Ayurveda Superstitious? Or is it being validated?

In a forum I was criticized by a few for proposing that doctors try ayurveda to battle their own illnesses. (As per the latest IMA report doctors today have a much shorter lifespan than general populations). To the mainstream doctors I can only say - Doctor heal thyself. Only then can you grasp what holistic sciences have to say about health and well being. Today doctors are extremely sick at physical, mental and emotional levels. They need not be. They can utilize the crisis in their own bodies and those of their family members to heal themselves and then turn into a healing force for the benefit of mankind.

There are just two instances where general ayurveda goes beyond the materialistic approach. One is ascribing viral diseases to spirits (Hoota Utpatti) and the use of astrology.

While studying the concept of viruses as detailed in modern texts I found glaring anomalies and concluded that the evidence was shaky. Viruses are so small it is often difficult to identify them precisely even under electron microscopes. They don't have any set pattern as they are just capsules containing genetic material released by cells to perform certain functions. As pointed out by Virologist Dr Stephen Lanka, preparing a sample for electron microscopy involves a cleaning procedure that would not allow viral particles to remain. The Rife Machine using radio frequency determined something quite to the contrary, alarming the system which ensured a total blackout.  http://www.whale.to/a/lanka_h.html

They are not alive and require a medium to survive. Much of the virus photographs we are shown are acknowledged to be cell fragments and not viruses. Many scientists have doubted their ability to cause disease. In diseases like hepatitis, polio and cervical cancer, the association is paper thin. The theory and also the causal mechanism is as yet unproven (researchers point out how no one has really witnessed the process and it is pure speculation) and it too does not obey the Koch Postulates - the four criteria established by Robert Koch to identify causative agents.

In vaccine preparation, not viruses but diseased matter is used assuming that they contain viruses. We do not possess the technology to filter, isolate, and handle viruses (what we are dealing with is cell fragments) - a fact that is acknowledged to have led to the continuation of simian contamination in the polio vaccine seed as reported by investigative journalist Janine Roberts in the book Fear of the Invisible.

So in essence, something in diseased matter has the ability to cause disease. Again, there may not be direct contact but disease can jump without discernible vectors often across a great distance. Spooky action. Maybe it was this that prompted ayurveds to ascribe these diseases to spirits (energy entities).

What in diseased matter causes disease? Thanks to quantum physics we know that all creation is based upon energy and vibrations. In disease there is variation in energy, we all experience low energy levels. There could also be a vibration aspect. Could substances be affecting us at this level?

Ayurveds ascribed viral diseases to different deities. The particular deity was appeased by offerings, rituals and prayers. Could such activity be raising the energy and vibration levels in the locality?

Now regarding astrology. Ayurveds noticed many diseases and disease patterns that were complex and not easy to rectify. They ascribed these diseases to past life experiences Hindus refer to as karma. Past life regression experts and psychiatrists today have proven this association.

Astrology offers an opportunity to map the past, present and future in a broad sense. It was a grand science at one time. The major texts were destroyed by the senior astrologers themselves (many were just thrown into the sea) because they foresaw a future when men would embrace evil and become highly destructive. In the Bible too is reflected the fear and later regret when this science fell into the hands of the descendants of Cain. The masters in India did not want a powerful weapon like astrology to fall in the hands of such a group.

Ayurveds who know and understand astrology develop a holistic vision of things and thus become great healers. The Buddhists retain and practice it with amazing effect as a part of Sowa Rigpa and other Buddhist medical practices. You can read an introductory article here. But please remember, astrology is a complex subject and many aspects need to be considered. https://www.ayurvedichealing.net/vedic-medical-astrology/

An introductory article on Tibetan Astrology (that is different from Vedic astrology but acknowledged by it) can be accessed here;

Ayurveda talks about samskara's. This is much more than genes. It is the combination of genetics and epigenetics and touches both physical and non physical.

Once one understands that disease does not begin at the physical level but at the mind and energy levels, one is ready for the leap. A holistic understanding of disease enables one to comprehend the esoteric aspects of oriental medicine that stirred the minds of Hippocrates and other philosophers. Today disease has been made complex with the all round use of toxins to tackle what is essentially an outcome of toxicity! Thus homeopaths and ayurveds devise means to deal with the toxicity to get to the original manifestation of disease that is then subsequently treated holistically employing the power of the vital force.

Thus we see that ayurveda is a science which is way ahead of our times and is being validated as we progress. We have committed a blunder by listening to Westerners and neglecting our own heritage.

What has investigative journalist Janine Robert revealed in her expose, "Fear of the Invisible"?

This book takes its readers on a journey into the very heart of the hunt for viruses - to the key experiments originally performed to prove that these invisibly small particles are the cause of diseases previously blamed on toxins or bacteria and into the latest research. It sheds light on the extraordinary assumptions that underlay much of this research - and on the vaccines that developed from this. The author, an investigative journalist who has researched and produced investigative films for the BBC, American and Australian television, was asked by parents with children severely ill after vaccination, to discover if the medical authorities were hiding anything from them. She agreed, but had no idea how long this search would take. She expected at best to uncover a small degree of contamination. On the ensuing decade-long journey of discovery, she learnt it is not just the added mercury that we have to worry about. She discovered that the top government scientists admit to colleagues that vaccines are contaminated with viruses from chickens, humans and monkeys, with RNA and DNA fragments, with 'cellular degradation products', and possibly 'oncogenes and prions.' They report alarmingly that it is impossible to commercially purify vaccines. They express great concerns, but the public is not told despite the possible consequences for long-term public health. A recent US court decision has linked autism with vaccine contamination. The author cites her sources by name - and gives references and Internet links where they are available. She reveals evidence that the World Health Organisation has discovered the MMR vaccine is contaminated with chicken leukosis virus, but has decided not to tell the public of this, and to continue to make the vaccine with eggs from contaminated chickens. She reports US biowarfare researchers tried to create new agents to destroy our immune systems - and worked on a bacterium to make it a hospital superbug. Did they manage to create HIV? A senior professor told her that the vaccine program was so contaminated that HIV might well have spread though it without any need for military intervention. She set out to find the evidence to resolve this, and to learn how HIV apparently spread so far and fast. She needed to know more about this virus so went to the foundation research widely held today to have found HIV and proved it caused AIDS. She was then rocked to discover that this same research was investigated for scientific fraud for a five year period by powerful US scientific institutions and by Congress,. Why is this not widely known? She found their reports and discovered they found major errors in this research, some so serious that these made it impossible to repeat these experiments and thus to verify them! She reveals the evidence unearthed - reproducing key documents so the reader can assess them for themselves. This is explosive material. In the final part of this book the author reports recent research that is revolutionising biology and offering much hope for the future. These new developments shed new light on the relationships between our cells and viruses. They are not necessarily enemies. Readers may find these new developments radically change the ideas they have held about viruses since childhood. This book has over 500 references and includes several documents unearthed under Freedom of Information legislation.

Three responses (From an MD, a Doctor and a Biologist), and two more by surgeons.

Response 1.
"Viruses cannot exist without a medium. They are much much smaller than bacteria. This is the simple reason why they cannot be isolated in the way the public assumes they are. They may of course be identified within the medium. In the polio vaccine the simian virus contamination is difficult to negate because in a live virus vaccine you cannot claim to isolate and remove particular viruses. That claim itself would raise eyebrows. However this did not stop them from making that claim. Do viruses exist at all? Yes they do. We have identified the largest. The small pox virus. But the tricky thing is how many are truly identified? We will never know. The measles virus could not be demonstrated. I have never seen a virus. I don't have an electron microscope. For me the entire thing is a matter of faith. Faith on a system that has failed us more times than it has been truthful. We should be wary of tall claims. Do viruses cause diseases? I loved the way you mention Koch. He nails the underlying problems. Everything is flexible and can be manipulated the way you want to look at it. You could be wrong, I could be wrong. Let's toss!"

Response 2:
As per definition virus is an inert non living material which has affinity for particular type of animal( including humans).and particular system of living body. When in any loving body such system is immunologically low and comes in contact with virus. it invades that system and uses it tobecome biologically active .it overpowers this system and starts havok.ln ayurveda certain diseases are classified as " HOOTO UTPATI) it does not mean that such disease is caused by ghost. Rather what we know call as viral was centuries ago known as "bhoot". So called ghost or bhoot are are also inert energies having affinity for particular living beings and particular systems just like virus.

Ayurveda is science and is far more advanced than modern medicine. It states how certain genes can be made biologically active and non active just me medicines, without any invasive procedures. Due to personal and financial interests of modern medicine's investigative machine makers mafia and pharma mafia, ayurveda has been always misinterpreted and Indian gov has done little. Whatsovere it has done or is being done is by so called " chamchas" who have no knowledge of medicine, normal physiology, anatomy, and bio chemistry related to human science.

Dear Jagannath, as a practising biologist, I can only affirm that the existence of viruses and their identification is beyond doubt. The Tobacco Mosaic Virus and some other viruses have also been photographed using electron microscopy.

However, even if some entities are too small to photograph, one need not doubt their existence, as long as other types of empirical evidence repeatedly, and systematically, confirm their presence. A particular virus causing a disease may be conjectural in a certain case, but to deny the existence of viruses - and of prions (much smaller life-forms composed of only proteins) is like denying the existence of atoms because nobody saw their photographs.

What are the "other types of empirical evidence"? Their genetic material - the DNA or (in the case of RNA viruses) RNA. One of the most convincing proof of DNA being the genetic material came from the viral DNA, in a famous classic experiment by Harshey and Chase in 1952. In this experiment, they radioactively labelled the viral DNA of T2 phage virus, which infected E. coli bacteria. The P32-labelled phage DNA was always detected in the infected bacterial cells, which lysed to produce copies of the same virus. These are some of the primary evidence, well known to biologists. Now, after 60 years of repeatedly generated evidence from all kinds of viruses, statements like "viruses are fictitious" cannot be trusted. Whoever makes such statements would appear naive and illiterate in molecular biology. No biologist would agree to listen to a journalist reporting on a medical controversy, unless s/he experimentally proves the counterpoint. In science, statements of belief and conjecture do not count. Only evidence based on observation and experiments give the last words.

Of course, the identification of a specific virus as THE causal agent of a particular disease or malady is also based on experimental evidence. In a few cases, where the scientists compromise the integrity of science to a commercial motive, there would be gross anomalies, and dishonst reportings. However, the peer review process and repetition of experiments are likely to detect the errors and malpractices. That's how we come to know the big pharma bluffs of bird flu and SARS. Scientists no longer talk about these viruses infecting humans. But many practising doctors do. Medical practitioners are not medical scientists. We must keep this difference in mind.

Response 1:
It's amazing how a person without a scientific education can use words with a macabre kind of confidence in ways they were never meant to be used. I feel like unleashing a stream of invective at this person who could do so much harm if enough uninformed persons read his spewings but that would be counter productive. Unfortunately, a scientific rebuttal would be equally futile. Never get into a wrestling match with a pig. He is better at wallowing in the mud and will enjoy it too.

Response 2:

Exactly what I thought. The modern gurus in India speak the same in an US accent. And the millions of followers with them come to get treated from us promptly. That is the way Indians live. For them religion and religious pseudo-science is an entertainment. When in real need we will do whatever is required. So let us ignore them
